A New Federal Territory

The Constitutional (Amendment) Act 2000 paves the way for the establishment of a new Federal Territory of Putrajaya.

Among others the amendments provide the same rights, responsibilities and status of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan to Putrajaya. The Amendment provides that Putrajaya will also have an appointed member at the Senate and will also have an elected member to the House of Representatives.
